KULA PROJECT

Kula exists to eradicate poverty through the development of entrepreneurs in Rwanda's coffee communities.

700 million people live in extreme poverty- most are farmers. In Rwanda, 52% of the
population lives in poverty, including the majority of its 450,000 coffee farmers. Female coffee farmers face a disproportionate amount of challenges within the sector.

Kula’s 12-month poverty graduation model is designed to empower and equip farming families to move out of extreme poverty through:

-Regenerative agronomy training

-Household entrepreneurship training

-Personal coaching

KULA'S IMPACT

Within one year after graduation, Kula Fellows experience on average 244% increase in income, 395% increase in savings, and 116% increase in coffee harvest.

Through 2024, 1,150 Fellows have graduated from the Kula Fellowship, impacting 5,000 people. Through 2028, we will graduate 8,000 Fellows and impact 25,000 people.

Through 2024, Kula has planted 1 million trees- but that’s just the start. They will plant 2 million trees by 2028 and surpass 2.5 million by 2030.
